Privacy policy
Last updated: 4 October 2026. This privacy policy explains how personal data is processed when using the “Gedenkort Gunskirchen” website.
Data controller and contact
Mauthausen Komitee Österreich, Obere Donaustraße 97–99/4/5, 1020 Vienna, Austria. For privacy enquiries, please contact info@mkoe.at or call +43 (0)1 212 83 33.
Hosting and visiting the website
Hosting for this website is managed by Wolf-Dieter Grabner, Plobergerstraße 7 / 70204, 4600 Wels, Austria, telephone +43 676 4250916. The Mauthausen Komitee Österreich named above is responsible for privacy enquiries.
To allow your browser to display the website, information including your IP address, the content requested and technical connection data is transmitted to the web server. Log data may be used for troubleshooting and protection against misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of this information service.
Search
The search service is also operated by Wolf-Dieter Grabner on his server, using the contact details given above.
When you enter a search term, the website queries the search service at search.flowlabs.studio. Your search term and selected language are transmitted; the direct connection also provides the search server with your IP address and technical request data. The search helps you find relevant content on this website. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing a usable content search under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Please do not enter confidential or personal information in the search field.
Display preferences and cookies
Your choice of light or dark appearance is saved under “gk-theme” in your browser’s local storage. This entry contains the selected appearance and remains until you delete the website data in your browser or change the setting. The application code does not send it to the server.
This website uses the Matomo analytics described below. The external 3D view also processes data through its own providers; see below. Technically necessary session cookies may be used for the protected editorial area.
Maps, 360° tour, fonts, audio and video
The overview map, schematic mini-map and our photographic 360° tour load their map data, panoramas and fonts from our own web server. The regular audio and video files are also hosted there. The separate “3D view” uses an external service.
Website analytics with Matomo
We use Matomo at matomo.gedenkort-gunskirchen.at for statistical analysis of website usage. The service is operated by Wolf-Dieter Grabner on his server. Page views and the associated technical connection data are recorded. The analysis helps us understand and improve the use of this information service.
The integration does not set Matomo tracking cookies. It respects “Do Not Track” and “Global Privacy Control”; when either signal is present, our website code does not load the tracker. Page and referring URLs passed to Matomo contain no query parameters or URL fragments. Search terms, GPS coordinates and compass data are not transmitted by the tracking code.
GPS and compass
GPS and compass are optional orientation aids. Location detection starts only after you activate the GPS button and requires location permission in your browser. The coordinates and accuracy provided by your device are processed to display your position on the map. When the compass is activated, it uses the available device orientation data; the device requests permission where necessary.
The website code does not send this location or compass data to our server or store it permanently. Each function can be switched off again. How your browser or operating system determines your location depends on its settings and privacy information.
External 3D view
Opening the “3D view” embeds an external tour via showcase.beko-solutions.at that uses Matterport. The content is supplied by external providers. A connection is also established when a link to the 3D view is opened directly. Loading this content establishes connections to the providers involved, transmitting information including your IP address and technical request data.
For its Showcase service, Matterport describes the storage of user preferences in the browser’s local storage, as well as usage analytics and technical logs. For users logged in to Matterport, session cookies and association with their account may also be used. Further information: Matterport Showcase data privacy and Matterport privacy policy.
External links and social networks
Instagram, Facebook and YouTube are linked through locally displayed icons. The icons themselves do not load content from these platforms. You visit the respective provider’s website only when you open a link. The same applies to the linked donation, booking and information services. The privacy policies of the respective operators apply there.
Contact by email
If you write to us, we process the contact details and content you provide to handle your enquiry. Depending on its nature, this is based on Article 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. The legitimate interest is responding to your enquiry. In accordance with the information published by the MKÖ, the data is deleted once the enquiry has been fully dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations or necessary further contractual processing require otherwise.
Retention periods
Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the relevant processing purpose. For technical logs, necessity depends on troubleshooting, operational security and the investigation of specific security incidents. For statistical usage data, the relevant purpose is the analysis and improvement of this information service. Once the purpose no longer applies, personal data is deleted or anonymised, unless statutory retention obligations or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims require otherwise. The linked information from the respective providers additionally applies to external services.
Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Please contact info@mkoe.at. You may also lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority.
